2022 Industry Alert: Dry Powder
Of important note is that never before has the private capital markets had more “dry powder” than it does right now. Per the Pitchbook Q2 2022 Private Markets Fundraising Report, as of June 30, 2022 funds available to invest in private capital funds totaled $3.2 trillion, near an all-time high, including $1.7 trillion of dry powder in traditional private equity and venture capital funds.
And in spite of uneven 2022 public markets and general macroeconomic conditions, venture capital funds continue to raise even more money, and within the first 6 months of 2022, an additional $157.5 billion of new capital was closed by 651 different funds.
